St Andrew's Church of England Voluntary Aided School is situated in the historic village of Wormingford, on the edge of the Stour Valley, about 15 to 20 minutes from Colchester and Sudbury. Pupils aged 4 to 11 years attend. The school prides itself in being a caring community, committed to fostering lifelong learning and high levels of achievement for each pupil. The delightful grounds provide an attractive setting for play, relaxation and study. The school is very well resourced and has excellent ICT facilities that include interactive whiteboards in each classroom and a bank of laptops which allow pupils to access computers in all lessons.
The staff are experienced and well qualified and classes are small. All staff members are committed to supporting each child in becoming a responsible, confident and independent person. They work as a team to encourage and develop high standards in pupils' work and behaviour. They realise the importance of providing a secure, happy and challenging school experience for each child.
What people say about the school. Pupils are enthusiastic about their school. Two pupils write:- "If you're feeling worried about what to expect, then there really is no need to be. The staff and pupils at this school are both welcoming and helpful." "The best thing is that we do lots of exciting things."
A parent says: "We are very pleased with the way our son has forged ahead - from a very shy little boy, uncertain of himself and his capabilities, to a more confident child, willing to have a go at most things instead of standing on the sidelines." The East Anglian Daily Times writes: "St Andrew's Primary School is not only one of the county's smallest schools, it is also one of its best kept secrets."
SAINT ANDREW'S SCHOOL IS SPECIAL. It is a very small school, where everyone is committed to helping children achieve their best.
