As part of our curriculum work this term Key Stage 2 children have researched some items for this page.
Our school was very different in the war time. We found out by looking in the old log books, talking to people who were alive at the time, looking at old newspapers and examining the buildings. We found out that children were evacuated to our school and that the local children only went to school on some days at the start of the war. School was a week late opening “Due to war conditions”. Our admin block was once the air raid shelter because the air field had American bombers stationed there. At the end of the war the school had 3 days holiday for VE celebrations.
